When and Where Did America Begin?

The story of America’s origins is a fascinating tale of exploration, discovery, and complex cultural interactions. Who Was Christopher Columbus?

Little did he know that his quest would lead to the discovery of an entirely unknown continent to Europeans.

On October 12, 1492, Columbus and his crew landed on an island in the Bahamas, which he named San Salvador. This momentous event marked the beginning of European exploration in the Americas. Although Columbus believed he had reached the East Indies, he had, in fact, stumbled upon a “New World.”

They were aided by Squanto, a member of the Patuxet tribe, who taught them vital agricultural techniques, such as planting corn and using fish as fertilizer. Squanto’s assistance was crucial in helping the Pilgrims survive and establish their colony.
